PROJECT SCHEDULE

Phase I construction was completed in the fall of 2014 with approximately 20,000 LF of new 72-inch and 60-inch gravity sewer installed between the existing Crabtree Lift Station and Capital Boulevard.

Bids were received on January 13, 2015 for the construction of the proposed tunnel crossings in Phase II which includes tunnels beneath Capital Boulevard, CSX Railroad within Hodges Street, Wake Forest Road, Anderson Drive, Lassiter Mill Road, Yadkin Road Bridge along the greenway, and I-440 near Glenwood Avenue.

The City intends to award the construction contract to Bradshaw Construction from Eldersburg, Maryland for the Phase II Tunnels project in February 2015 and begin construction in April 2015. The majority of the Phase II project construction will be bid under a separate contract following the start of the tunnel construction. This will be the portion of the construction involving installation of gravity sewer by open cut (trench excavation) from Capital Boulevard northwest to I-440 near Glenwood Avenue. This portion of Phase II is expected to be bid in August of 2015 and start construction in late 2015 or early 2016.
