AREA LOCATION

As identified on the map below, the proposed area for improvements encompasses the southeastern most part of the City's Crabtree Basin Service Area and is located southeast of the I-440/US 70 intersection (Glenwood Avenue at Crabtree Valley Mall). The project area extends to Anderson Point Park, where Crabtree Creek flows into the Neuse River. The project will be bid and constructed in phases with Phase I (US 64/264 bypass ramp at I-440 to east of Capital Boulevard); Phase II (Capital Boulevard to north of I-440 near Glenwood Avenue) and Phase III (Anderson Point Park to US 64/264 ramp at I-440).

The existing wastewater collection system, located adjacent to and parallel to Crabtree Creek, is composed of two main gravity sewer lines called interceptors. These two lines are generally located on the north and south sides of Crabtree Creek. The interceptors are primarily 36 inches to 60 inches in diameter and serve as the main lines for collecting wastewater from all the smaller gravity lines in the basin. Collected wastewater is conveyed by gravity sewer to the Crabtree Creek pump station, where it is ultimately pumped through a force main to the Neuse River Wastewater Treatment Plant for treatment.
